Low emission Poland 2050. Introduction.

In the world at present, changes happen very quickly and the success or failure of the economies of both individual countries and companies depend on their ability to anticipate and adapt to change. Globalisation demands competitiveness in all fields, including regulatory competition and the race for innovation.

As a result of scientific and technological progress, old business models have been redesigned. High skill levels, unique know-howandcapitalare prioritised over cheap labour. At the same time, natural resources are dwindling, while the human impact on the natural environment is growing rapidly at both the regional and global levels.A tech- nological revolution in the energy sector(initiated by Denmark and Germany)is in progress, with a strong focus on energy efficiency and renewable energy sources (RES), and an increasing emphasis on the role played by prosumers and smart energy management. Today, the global market for low-carbon products and services exceeds 4 bln EUR and according to HSBC bank it will reach up to 2.2 trillion USD by 2020 .
