In mid-May, the EUKICON26 conference took place in Berlin, bringing together representatives of organizations from 20 European countries implementing projects under the European Climate Initiative (EUKI). We were invited by the organizers to present one of our projects, Wind4Bio – Increasing the Social Acceptance of Wind Energy, for which we received the Energy Transformation Leader 2025 award.
Wind4Bio was implemented jointly with the University of Patras, PROMEA, and Green Liberty in Poland, Greece, and Latvia between 2022 and 2025. The project focused on increasing public acceptance of wind energy as well as studying the impact of wind power on biodiversity. Activities carried out in Poland included a series of meetings with representatives of local administration, the private sector, and non-governmental organizations, which Karolina Szyller, Communications Manager at WiseEuropa, discussed during her presentation. The relationships established through the project proved to be long-lasting, and we continued cooperating with many of these organizations in the context of other initiatives. We also explored the needs of Polish think tanks and the partnerships they most commonly engage in in a dedicated report entitled “Burza mózgów. Teraźniejszość i przyszłość sektora think tanków w Polsce” (Brainstorm. The Present and Future of the Think Tank Sector in Poland).
The EUKICON26 programme also featured presentations of many other outstanding projects from various fields, panel discussions with policymakers, thematic workshops, and numerous networking activities. We would like to thank the European Climate Initiative (EUKI) for inviting us to actively participate in such an excellent event.
