The UK power market – valuable experience for Poland

For more than a year, works have been underway on the establishment of the Polish power market. Its implementation is to allow us to break the investment impasse in the energy sector, to protect Poland against the risk of power shortages and to solve the problem of the decreasing revenue of energy sector companies.

The Forum for Energy Analysis looked into the British experience from December 2014, when the very first power auctions within the framework of the mechanism in question were held. The cost of securing the power following the first auction will exceed the amount of GBP 980 million for year 2018/2019; at the present stage, there is no indication that new investments have been stimulated.
