A new WiseEuropa report – serving as a synthesis of the insights and findings developed throughout the Green Horizon project – highlights that carbon management solutions, particularly carbon capture and storage (CCS), could play a pivotal role in this process, especially in regions undergoing structural transition.
Despite a pressing economic dependence on carbon-intensive industries and significant potential for carbon management (CM), multiple Central and Eastern European (CEE) countries face challenges in implementing CM strategies and projects due to limited understanding, governance gaps, and low public awareness.
On 21 November 2024, the first Polish National Workshop on Electricity in Energy Communities was organized as part of the Commence project. The event, hosted on the Zoom platform, brought together 40 participants, including representatives of local governments and existing energy communities.
On 14 June 2023, the “CCUS in Central and Eastern Europe” workshop, co-organised by the Ministry of Climate and Environment and the WiseEuropa Foundation, took place in Warsaw. The workshop was an extension of the periodic meeting held by the technical group as part of the Carbon Sequestration Leadership Forum (CSLF).
