WISE Institute and demosEUROPA are joining forces. The new WiseEuropa thinktank will focus on Polish, European and global economic and foreign policy issues.
New trends and transformations in international political and economic affairs have substantially modified the context within which Poland’s foreign and economic policies are being shaped and executed. They also translate into novel challenges that the Polish entrepreneurs, policy makers and citizens will have to tackle. Multidisciplinary skills and experience are indispensible to comprehend their complexity and adequately respond to them. This is the key rationale behind WISE Institute and demosEUROPA’s decision to join forces, after years of fruitful cooperation, within a new WiseEuropa thinktank. The united institution commences to operate on March 1st, 2016.
WiseEuropa will serve as a centre of strategic analysis on international economic, technological, social and political affairs. It will build upon the past achievements of both organisations and strengthen their market position while at the same time enable them to further expand in Poland and abroad. WiseEuropa offers its wide range of analytical, research and communication services to partners from all three sectors: business, administration and science. The institute’s main competitive advantage is multidisciplinary knowledge and skills of its researchers (economics, political science, sociology, international affairs) coupled with an extensive experience of both founding institutions which have been active and recognised on the Polish and European market for years. The institute aims at providing innovatory knowledge-based solutions for entrepreneurs as well as central and local government, based on complex institutional, foreign policy and economic analysis and on a thorough combination of qualitative research and quantitative ‘number-crunching’.
WiseEuropa specializes in the following domains:
• European and global politics and economic affairs,
• National macroeconomic, industrial, energy and institutional policies,
• Digital economy and innovativeness,
• Social and labour market policies.
The new institution employs a unique research toolkit, uniting quantitative and qualitative analysis, such as: statistics and econometrics, macroeconomic and system modelling, as well as sociological, political and institutional analysis. Combined with them are high-quality communication tools and solutions enabling promotion of the institute’s studies within the public debate.
The mission of WiseEuropa is to provide strategic analysis of a complex political and economic reality while at the same time creating innovative knowledge and inspiring public debate in Poland and in Europe. The institute will engage citizens, entrepreneurs, experts and policymakers from Poland and other countries in a joint reflection on the EU’s and Poland‘s modernisation agenda as well as the EU’s and Poland’s role in the world.
WiseEuropa will be co-managed by Maciej Bukowski and Krzysztof Blusz, who served as presidents of WISE Institute and demosEUROPA respectively. Wojciech Białożyt will become Managing Director of the new institution, while Aleksandra Sawicka will become its Communication Manager. Previously, both of them fulfilled the same functions in WISE Institute.
Maciej Bukowski is an economist (PhD), lecturer at the University of Warsaw, expert on macroeconomics, energy and climate policy, industrial policy, digital economy and labour market. As President of WiseEuropa he will be responsible for managing research and projects in the above-mentioned areas of expertise.
