We are pleased to invite you to an upcoming webinar where we will search for answers to the question “How to break down the barriers to transformation?” and we will share best examples from coal and heavy industry regions.
Just Transition is the process of changing from a carbon-intensive to a zero-carbon economy, with particular consideration for the wellbeing of local people in terms of continuity of employment and the environment in which they live. It involves creating alternative industries and providing jobs for those who will lose them as a result of the gradual closure of companies such as mines or power plants.
The event will take place on the 1st December 2022, from 10:00 to 11:30 CET, via the Zoom platform. During the event, together with international guests, we will present some of the most inspirational initiatives to overcome the transformation barriers. 4 cases of innovative solutions from different countries will be discussed and the factors enabling a breakthrough analyzed.
The presentation will be followed by a facilitated discussion on extent and conditions for their applicability to the CEE/RIS countries with the audience.
The webinar is a part of Community Lab and Post Coal Future Lab initiatives. It aims at supporting the
decision-makers and stakeholders of the Just Transition through knowledge-sharing and strengthening
capabilities such as critical thinking. In 2nd half of December a report with 30 cases of breakthrough
initiatives will be issued.
